Re: Temporary Move to Remote Learning

Students at New Bridge Academy will move temporarily from in-person classes to remote learning beginning Friday, September 10. The decision is a result of the numbers of positive COVID-19 cases among students and the impact on overall operations at the school.

The remote learning period will run Friday, September 10, through Friday, September 17.  Students are tentatively scheduled to resume in-person classes on campus on Monday, September 20.  When the campus re-opens, all students, staff and visitors will be required to wear masks on district property, on district transportation and while attending school-related events or activities.

Your child’s teacher will send you information about instructional expectations during remote learning, and you can find other information in these FAQs for students and parents/legal guardians here.   Should you need technical assistance during remote learning, please click here for Help Desk information.

There will be no school-related clubs, activities and/or events during the remote learning period.  These activities will resume when students return to the school campus for in-person classes.

Free student breakfast/lunch meals are available for drive-thru pickup at Cayce Elementary from 11am-12pm, starting Monday, September 13, through Friday, September 17.  Families are asked to pre-order meals to ensure we have enough for everyone; go to https://www.lex2.org/apps/news/article/1449376 .

During the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19, we encourage students and families to practice healthy habits, including:

  • Wear a mask
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Check out these useful CDC tips about when and how to wash hands: https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/when-how-handwashing.html
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow or use a tissue and throw it away after use.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Avoid contact with sick people.

Lexington Two does not make decisions about temporary shifts in instruction lightly, knowing how they affect students and their families as well as staff and others.  Our goal remains five (5) day in-person instruction -- as we started the school year -- in the safest environment possible amid COVID-19.  We look forward to welcoming our New Bridge students back to campus and will communicate updates with you during this remote learning period.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nicolas Wade

Superintendent of Schools
