WEST COLUMBIA, SC – Lexington Two announces the hiring of a new principal at New Bridge Academy for the 2024-2025 school year.
Kelly Remia comes to Lexington Two after serving as coordinator for Lexington-Richland 5’s FIVE Virtual Program. Her hiring was recommended by Superintendent Dr. Brenda Hafner and approved by the Board of Trustees at its June 20 meeting.
“Mrs. Remia brings a wealth of experience and training that I know will continue a path of inspiration, passion, and high expectations for our New Bridge Academy students,” Superintendent Dr. Brenda Hafner said.
Remia started her career in 2009 at Richland Two’s Blythewood Academy, where she served as a transition specialist and later as an assistant administrator. She moved in 2020 to Lexington-Richland 5’s Irmo Middle School as an assistant principal, before moving into the same role with the district’s FIVE Virtual Program. She became FIVE’s coordinator in 2022. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Columbia College and a M.Ed from Grand Canyon University.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to join Lexington School District Two and New Bridge Academy,” Remia said. “Lexington Two has established a standard of excellence in learning, fostering opportunities for success in all children. As the new principal of New Bridge Academy, I will continue to serve as a champion for my students and families by creating a community and opportunities that will support all students' social, emotional, and academic needs.”
Remia will begin her new role July 1.
